The ACU Global Grants provide undergraduate students at ACU member universities with funding to attend short-term academic programmes (‘summer’ or ‘winter’ schools), hosted by an ACU member institution in a different Commonwealth country.

Who can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be registered as an undergraduate student at an ACU member institution.
  • Be a citizen of (or hold refugee status in) a Commonwealth country.
  • Identify a short‑term academic programme (summer/winter school) at an ACU member institution in another Commonwealth country.
  • Ensure the programme has an official start date between 1 December 2026 and 31 August 2027.
  • Provide letters of support from their home institution and the host institution.

How are Applicants Selected?

  • Selection is based on eligibility, academic relevance of the chosen programme, and strength of supporting documentation.
  • Applications are reviewed by ACU committees, with funding allocated according to donor guidelines (including the HW Paxton Trust).

Which Countries are Eligible?

  • All Commonwealth countries (including refugee status holders).

Where will the Award be Taken?

  • At an ACU member university in another Commonwealth country.

How Many Awards?

  • 10 awards total:
    • 5 for citizens of the United Kingdom (funded by HW Paxton Trust).
    • 5 for citizens of (or refugees in) other Commonwealth countries.

What is the Benefit of the Award?

  • Up to GBP £5,000 per award.
  • Funding covers tuition, travel, and living costs for the short‑term programme.
