The Feminist Leadership Accelerator for Change (FLAC), hosted by the Soul City Institute for Social Justice (SCI), is a 12‑month fellowship designed to nurture feminist consciousness and build the capacity of young African women to lead change in their communities. It is a transformational learning and co‑creation space that inspires participants to embrace feminist activism, challenge unjust systems, and advance social justice.
Programme Structure & Modules:
Fellows engage in immersive learning, peer dialogue, and practical action across modules such as:
- Gender & Healing – childhood conditioning & recovery.
- Feminism 101 – African feminist epistemology & decolonial thought.
- Communications & Media – storytelling, advocacy campaigns, digital strategy.
- Feminist Activism & Movement Building.
- Sexual & Gender‑Based Violence & reproductive justice.
- Feminist Leadership – power, ethics & practice.
- Economic & Climate Justice.
- Community Accelerator Project – design & implementation.
- Job Readiness & Professional Development.

Who can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Hold at least a high school certificate, diploma, or undergraduate degree.
- Be 19–25 years old at the time of application.
- Self‑identify as a woman (inclusive definition).
- Demonstrate community leadership or activism (preferred).
- Show commitment to social justice and feminist principles.
- Reside in South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana, or Zimbabwe.
- Women in rural areas and persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.

- CV (max 3 pages, including leadership example).
- Motivation letter.
- Motivation video (2–3 minutes).
- Two recommendation letters from community representatives.
- One reference letter from a former educator confirming leadership role.
