About the Grant

The Conservation Nation 2026 Grant Programme provides support to individual conservation practitioners and conservation-focused graduate students and above. The programme aims to advance wildlife conservation, biodiversity protection, habitat preservation, ecosystem stewardship, and community engagement.

Successful applicants can use the grant during one year. Specifically, applicants must be prepared to administer grant activities between September 2026 and September 2027. Conservation Nation plans to make 8 awards.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be early- to mid-career conservationists with up to 7 years of conservation experience.
  • Applicants from all communities are eligible. Conservation Nation especially encourages people historically under-represented in conservation to apply.
  • Applicants should be individual conservation practitioners actively working to protect wildlife, biodiversity, and ecosystems.
  • Full-time conservation professionals employed by non-profit conservation organisations may apply.
  • Graduate students and above engaged in conservation-related studies may apply.
  • Student applicants must provide their programme director’s name and email.
  • Applicants must have access to a bank account that can receive electronic funds in USD.
  • Only one application may be submitted per applicant.

Grant Amount: Up to US$5,000 each
Project Duration: One-year grant period (applicants must be prepared to administer grant activities between September 2026 and September 2027).
Funding Scope: Funding may support field research, conservation implementation, travel, in-country personnel, intern stipends (case-by-case), honouraria (case-by-case), and equipment or materials for projects with range-country partners.

Beyond funding, grantees also gain access to the Conservation Nation Network. As a result, they can benefit from professional development resources, connections, and capacity-building support.

Selected grantees are expected to meet programme responsibilities. For example, they must submit reports, provide final accounting with receipts, attend at least one virtual Coffee & Chat event, and notify Conservation Nation of any material project or budget changes in advance.

Required items include a project summary and supporting materials, project budget and timeline, a recorded role model video, programme director name and email for student applicants, and any required approvals or supporting documentation.
