About this Program
The AIG Visiting Fellowship is designed for Nigerian public sector executives who have shown strong leadership and measurable contributions to public service. In particular, the program focuses on critical public policy issues affecting Nigeria.
At Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, fellows engage with academic resources and global networks. As a result, they can examine governance challenges, sharpen reform ideas, and develop solutions that strengthen public sector performance.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must hold a position within the leadership cadres of Director Generals and Chief Executive Officers in the Public Service
- Must have a minimum of six years before mandatory retirement age
- Must demonstrate measurable impact in public service delivery within the past five years
- Must provide quantifiable evidence of implementing successful reforms or improvements in their area of responsibility
- Must oversee strategic initiatives in at least one of the following sectors: Health, Education, Agriculture, Finance, Energy, Justice, Defence, and Security
- Must demonstrate experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
- Must hold a minimum of a master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification
- Must show evidence of continuous professional development in the last three years
- Must obtain formal endorsement from a respected public sector leader such as the Head of the Civil Service, a Minister, or a Governor
- Must have no pending disciplinary actions
- Must have a clean and outstanding record of service
- Must pass security clearance

Program Components: Codify learning and experience through policy papers and briefs; share findings through a workshop or lecture; continue to drive systemic reform upon returning home; mentor colleagues; advance effective governance practices; and contribute to the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation’s mission of building a more capable, accountable, and transformative public sector for Nigeria.
