Who can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Hold the BM BCh degrees from Oxford University, or
- Have passed the First Examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Medicine at Oxford and hold a medical degree from another British university, qualifying them to practise medicine.
- Propose a period of overseas clinical study or research lasting at least one month.
How are Applicants Selected?
- Based on academic merit, strength of proposed study plan, and testimonials.
- Scholars are expected to submit a report after completing their travel and are encouraged to publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Which Countries Are Eligible?
- United Kingdom (Oxford graduates only).
Where will the Award be Taken?
- Abroad (outside the UK), at medical institutions or research facilities.
How Many Awards?
- Typically one scholar selected per cycle (award offered every second year).
What is the Benefit of the Award?
- Scholarship value: ~£4,000.
- May be held alongside other awards.
- Payment structure:
- Nine-tenths paid before travel.
- One-tenth is paid after submission and approval of the final report.
- Supports travel, accommodation, and research-related costs.
How Long Will the Award Last?
- Travel must be completed within 12 months of election.
