Karolinska Institutet offers scholarships to excellent students who have been admitted to one of our global master’s programmes. The scholarship is distributed across all the global master’s programmes, and the competition is high.

The KI Global Master’s Scholarship is a competitive tuition-fee scholarship offered by Karolinska Institutet (KI), Sweden, for high-performing international students applying to eligible global Master’s programmes.

Who Can Apply?

You can apply if you:

  • Are required to pay tuition fees throughout your studies.
  • Have applied for an eligible Master’s programme at Karolinska Institutet.

  • Meet the academic and English-language requirements for your chosen programme.
  • Submit the required KI CV form.

If KI is your first choice and you are admitted to a lower-ranked KI programme, you can still remain eligible for the scholarship.

How Are Applicants Selected?

Scholarships are awarded based on the merit rating from the KI CV form.

Academic staff in each programme assess the CV form. The applicant with the highest merit rating in each programme is offered the scholarship.

If applicants have the same merit rating, a lottery is used. If a selected applicant declines the scholarship, it may be offered to the applicant with the next-best merit rating.

Eligibility is based on Swedish tuition-fee status rather than nationality alone.

Applicants must be students who are required to pay tuition fees at KI.
