The International Peace Scholarship Fund was established in 1949. The PEO provides Scholarships for main women from different countries to study in the United States. The Scholarships are not given for research, internships, or practical training unless it is combined with the degree coursework.

Who Should Apply

  • The applicant must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study in an accredited university in the United States or Canada.
  • Applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada.
  • An applicant must have a full year of coursework remaining, be enrolled and in residence for the entire school year.
  • International students attending the United States country college are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

The maximum amount awarded to a student is $12,500.

Rotary Peace Fellowship Program

The Rotary peace fellowship each year awards up to 100 students in a globally competitive process based on personal, academic, and professional achievements. These applicants are awarded to study both masters and postgraduate courses at various Peace centers around the world. More than 1200 program alumni are working in over 100 countries as leaders in national governments, NGOs, social enterprises, the military, law enforcement, and international organizations such as the United Nations.

Who Should Apply

  • For the master’s program; A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus 3 years of related work experience.
  • For the certificate program, a strong academic background, plus 5 years of related work experience
  • Proficiency in English language
  • Proof of excellent leadership skills

Gbowee Peace Scholarship for Women

The Gbowee Peace Scholarship is aimed at women from African countries to help them further their studies abroad and then come back to their home country to help initiate peace and also for the general betterment of their community at large. The candidate would also use the studying abroad experience and the postgraduate qualification to locally or globally promote holistic transformation, encourage a peaceful, reconciled and empowered population in her home country. Gbowee Peace Foundation Scholarship is a master’s degree program that is available for all fields of study. The Gbowee Scholarship is hosted and taken in Scotland, UK.

Who Should Apply

  • The applicant must be of African descent; either a Liberian, Nigerian, or Ghanaian national citizen
  • The applicant must be permanently resident in Liberia, Nigeria or Ghana at the time of application
  • The applicant must be female
  • Applicants will be selected on the basis of their merit and potential evidenced by their personal statement.

The scholarship scheme awards up to a total of £20,000 for Tuition and living expenses.

  • The applicant must be a human rights defender. His/her work promotes Human Rights.
  • Applicants must have a relevant degree in international human rights law and a few years of relevant experience in human rights law work.
  • Has a proven track record on conducting research activities and works in (applied) human rights law research;
  • Applicants must be willing to carry out a research project that aims to contribute to the improvement of human rights.
  • Applicants must have a good command of English language
