London metropolitan came about as a result of a merger between London Guildhall University and the University Of North London in 2002, making them the only universities to have ever been merged in the UK. Its rich history goes as far as 1848. Located in London, England, it has a total of 2,400 academic and administrative staff and over 12,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. With three campuses at Holloway-main campus, Aldgate and Moorgate, its vice-chancellor is Professor Lynn Dobbs.

Scholarships And Aids At London Metropolitan University

London Met offers a wide variety of scholarships for both international, national undergraduate and postgraduate students. These scholarships are awarded depending on level of study and nationality.

Undergraduate Scholarships

  • Unite Foundation Scholarship Scheme is open for those who are no longer connected to their parents or are open to adults who have spent time in foster care or have been outside their immediate family. They are provided with three-year accommodation.
  • Early Payment Discount is open for application from students in any country. A 3% discount is made for early payments.
  • National Scholarship Programme is worth £6000 and paid £3000 in the first year and £1500 subsequently for three years. It is open to first-year students who are engaged in full-time study and are permanently residing n England plus a minimum of 300 UCAS points.
  • Sir John Cass’s Foundation Lord Mayor’s Scholarship Programme is worth £7,000 for first-year students in the sciences, lasting for a period of three years.

Postgraduate Scholarships

  • London Met and BBC World Service offers a joint scholarship for postgraduate studies for students from Central Asia who speaks Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, or Turkmen. An annual full tuition fee scholarship for students interested in Mass communication, MA International Relations and Globalization, MA Marketing, MA International Relations (Interdisciplinary), MA International Business, MA Digital Media, MA Professional Writing.
  • Chevning Scholarship is for International students willing to take a full-time course in the UK. It covers accommodation, travel costs and tuition fees.
  • International Students House And London Met Postgraduate Scholarship for American students who are willing to take up a full-time master’s programme in the UK. It covers tuition for three students at London Met and also free accommodation in London for the duration of their study.
  • ISH/London Metropolitan Scholarship Scheme is open to one to five applicants from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Namibia, Cuba, Nepal, Tanzania, Uganda, Tibet, Gambia, Lebanon, Vietnam, East Timor, Armenia, Cameroon, Namibia, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe for a period of two years. It covers accommodation and tuition fees.
  • Alumni Discounts is available to any nationality and offers 20% discount on tuition fees.

Requirements For London Metropolitan University

London Met accepts students from all works of life so you do not need to worry about discrimination. In a case where you did not make it to your preferred choice, of course, you are provided with an alternative. Individuals are properly accessed and are accepted into the university if they are found worthy. The entry requirements differ according to the level of study i.e. undergraduate and postgraduate.

Undergraduate Requirements

On many occasions, at least one of these is required before the process of application:

  • 2 GCE A level passes.
  • a minimum of 28 points in the award of Diploma of the International Baccalaureate.
  • a minimum of 80 points in the UCAS.
  • a 70% pass in the European Baccalaureate.
  • applicant must have acquired a minimum of grade C in the Irish Leaving Certificate.

Postgraduate Requirements

  • ability to demonstrate excellent mastery of English language.
  • a minimum of 2.2 honors degree or its equivalent from a known university.
