Scholarships to Study at Cardiff University

Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship

The scholarship offered cuts across undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The award offered to international students is £2000. The scholarship is partially funded and covers only part of the tuition fees.

Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships for Research Excellence

Eligible applicants are offered the opportunity to join the Doctoral Academy for three years on a full-time basis. The scholarship includes tuition fees, an annual stipend and contribution towards research costs. The award is valued at £14,777. The award would be offered to the highest qualified candidates with the potential to become outstanding researchers. To apply for the scholarship, you must meet with the university’s eligibility criteria.

International Foundation Programme Scholarships

The scholarship is awarded to the non-sponsored international students. The award is worth £2000 in the form of tuition fee discount.

PhD Research Scholarships

The scholarship is available to China Scholarship Council students, providing only tuition fees waiver and an offer of a place on a PhD programme.

Visiting Scholars Funding Schemes

Cardiff University awards two visiting scholars funding schemes: Fulbright and China Scholarship Council.

  • Fulbright Scholarship-Cardiff University Scholarship

The scholarship enables individual students to take a 3 – 12-month project, research, teaching or lectureship in any of the university departments.

  • China Scholarship Council (CSC) Visiting Scholar Award

Cardiff collaborates with CSC to offer awards for research visits up to 24 months by the Chinese students who run their PhD programmes at top Chinese universities. The schools involved may provide full scholarship, covering maintenance, travel and visa costs. This funding is provided by the CSC and all information should be acquired from their website.

The Beacon Scholarship

Cardiff University is a partner with the Beacon Scholarship Scheme for undergraduate courses. The scholarship is awarded to students from Uganda Tanzania and Kenya to study a 3 – 4-year course, excluding medicine. The age range of students is between 18 and 21. The tuition and maintenance fees are split into three: a third coming from Beacon, a third coming from the partner and a third coming from the student.

Master’s Excellence Scholarships

The scholarship is offered in the total sum of £500,000 to both home and EU students who wish to obtain a Master’s degree at Cardiff University. The scholarship for each applicant is valued at £3000 and would be awarded in the form of tuition fees.

CONACYT (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Technologia) Scholarship

The scholarship is offered to Mexican students enrolling in postgraduate courses (both taught and research courses). The scholarship will cover most of the tuition fees and living expenses. To obtain the scholarship, you must have an offer to study in Cardiff University.
