Business analytics involves the skills, technologies, and practices for examining and studying past business performance to gain insight and knowledge needed to drive business planning. It focuses on identifying principles and understanding business performances based on data collated and statistical methods. While business intelligence majorly focuses on using a consistent principle to measure past performances and guide business planning, business analytics, on the other hand, uses extensive analytical modeling and numerical analysis. This includes explanatory and predictable modeling and fact-based modeling to influence decision-making. Additionally, it is closely related to management science. Analytics may sometimes be used as input for human decisions or may drive fully automated decisions.
