The ETSU International Merit Scholarships are designed for new degree-seeking international students admitted to undergraduate or graduate programs. Awards are automatically considered during admission — no separate scholarship application is required.
Which Fields are Eligible?
- Undergraduate Programs across all disciplines.
- Graduate Programs (Master’s and Doctoral).
- Excludes M.D. and PharmD programs.

Who can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be international students admitted to ETSU as degree-seeking students.
- Hold or plan to hold an F-1 or J-1 visa.
- Meet GPA requirements:
- Freshman: 3.0 GPA in high school.
- Transfer: 3.0 GPA in previous university coursework.
- Graduate: 3.0 GPA in undergraduate coursework.
- Not be applying for a second Bachelor’s degree from ETSU.
- Not be paying in-state or E-Rate tuition.
How are Applicants Selected?
- Automatically considered during admission based on GPA.
- Must maintain eligibility requirements each semester to continue receiving the scholarship.

- Cannot be combined with other scholarships covering out-of-state tuition (e.g., Fulbright, Graduate Assistantships).
How Long Will the Award Last?
- Undergraduate: 4 years (8 semesters).
- Graduate: 2–4 years depending on program length.
