The Simmons Distinguished Scholar Award is a prestigious and competitive merit-based scholarship offered to first-year students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievements, a strong commitment to their community, and a passion for creating positive change. Scholars become part of a dynamic campus community at Simmons University, benefiting from numerous opportunities for personal growth, intellectual development, cultural exploration, and social engagement. This award covers full tuition, mandatory fees (except health insurance), and room and board for four years, and it supersedes any previous merit scholarship.

Who can Apply For The Simmons Distinguished Scholar Award?
Students who meet the following criteria can apply:
- Apply as a first-year student for the fall semester.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.50.
- Have a record of taking college prep, AP, honors, or IB courses.
- Provide proof of English proficiency if they are non-native English speakers.
- (Optional) Submit standardized test scores: a 28+ ACT or a 1300+ SAT
How are Applicants Selected?
Applicants are selected based on:
- Academic achievements.
- Community involvement, including volunteer work, leadership roles, or other forms of engagement.
- Passion for their chosen field of study, demonstrated through academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and resume.
- A formal essay demonstrating leadership skills and experiences.
- Finalists will be required to complete an interview in February.
