The Exeter Excellence Scholarships recognize outstanding academic achievement by offering financial support to international students pursuing undergraduate studies at the University of Exeter. These scholarships aim to attract talented students worldwide, providing them with access to exceptional teaching, learning, and research while fostering a dynamic and inclusive university community. Awardees will receive a tuition fee reduction, helping to ease the financial burden of studying at Exeter.

Which Fields are Eligible?

The following fields are eligible: 

  • Environment, Science and Economy: Computer Science, Earth and Environmental Science, Ecology and Conservation, Economics, Engineering, Finance and Accounting, Geography, Mathematics and Statistics, Management, Natural Sciences, Physics and Astronomy.
  • Health and Life Sciences: Biosciences, Clinical and Biomedical Sciences, Health and Care Professions, Health and Community Sciences, Psychology, Public Health and Sports Sciences.
  • Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences: Arab and Islamic Studies, Archaeology and History, Classics, Ancient History, Religion and Theology, Communications, Drama and Film, English and Creative Writing, Humanities and Social Sciences (Cornwall), Languages, Cultures and Visual Studies, Law School, Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy and Anthropology.

Ineligible Programs: Flexible Combined Honours, BMBS Medicine, Law programs delivered by the University of Law, Dual LLB/Juris Doctor (JD) with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, LLB Engineering and Law (HKUST), Graduate Law LLB, and Degree Apprenticeships.

Who can Apply for the University of Exeter Excellence Scholarships?

Applicants must:

  • Have international fee status (including EU students required to pay international fees in 2025/26).
  • Hold an offer to study an eligible undergraduate degree at the University of Exeter, starting in September 2025.

How are Applicants Selected?

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on:

  • Academic merit: Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance, with expected or achieved grades equivalent to GCE A-level grades AAB.
  • Personal statement evaluation: Applicants must demonstrate academic and career ambition, a clear plan for utilizing the study opportunity, a sense of social responsibility, and a willingness to engage with the Exeter community.

  • A personal statement (maximum 300 words) answering the following:
    • What are your ambitions for the future, and how will your studies at Exeter help you achieve them?
    • What will you contribute to the study experience and environment at Exeter?
    • As a scholar, how might you act as an ambassador for the University?

What is the Benefit of the University of Exeter Excellence Scholarships?

The scholarship provides a recurring tuition fee discount of either £3,000 or £5,000 per eligible year of study. It can be combined with University of Exeter Undergraduate Scholarships for India, China, Turkey, Malaysia, or Thailand, subject to a maximum award value of £10,000 in any one eligible year.

A personal statement (of no more than 300 words) is required as part of the form, responding to the following questions:

  1. What are your ambitions for the future and how will your studies at Exeter help you to achieve them?
  2. What will you contribute to the study experience/environment on campus at Exeter?
  3. As a scholar, how might you act as an ambassador for the University?  

Eligible offer holders who apply for a scholarship by the deadline of 4 June 2026 will be notified of the outcome by the end of the day on 23 June 2026.
