The A.S. Hornby Educational Trust Scholarship supports capacity building for English language teaching in low‑ and middle‑income countries. Delivered in partnership with the University of Exeter, it provides up to 10 fully funded scholarships for the MEd TESOL programme (September 2027 entry). The award is designed for experienced teachers and professionals who can make a significant impact on English language teaching and learning in their home countries.

Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
- Be residents of and working in a country classified as Least Developed, Low Income, Lower Middle Income, or Upper Middle Income (OECD DAC list).
- Have at least three years of full‑time TESOL teaching or related professional experience after their first degree.
- Hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to UK upper second‑class honours or higher, or a relevant postgraduate degree.
- Not already hold a doctoral degree in TESOL, applied linguistics, English, or related areas.
- Not already hold a Master’s degree in TESOL, applied linguistics, English, or related areas from a UK university.
How Are Scholars Selected
- Based on academic merit, teaching experience, and potential to impact English language teaching in their home country.
- Jointly assessed by the University of Exeter and the Hornby Educational Trust.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview.
