The Japan Study Support Scholarship (JPSS) is a financial aid program provided by the Government of Japan for international students (non-Japanese citizens) who wish to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in Japanese universities. It offers financial support during the first year of study to help cover tuition, living, and accommodation expenses.

Who can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Have received admission to a Japanese university for Fall 2025 (Sept–Nov) or Spring 2026 (Apr–May) entry.
- Be registered on JPSS My Page.
- Have received a message from the university via the JPSS Scout function before acceptance.
- Be able to interview in Japanese or English.
- Hold a Japanese bank account (not internet banks).
- Not be a Japanese citizen.
How are Candidates Selected?
- Step 1: Document screening (application form, essay, video).
- Step 2: Interview (Japanese or English).
- Step 3: Notification of successful applicants (names may be published on JPSS).
Which Countries Are Eligible?
- All countries except Japan.
Where will the Scholarship be Taken?
- Japanese universities and colleges.
How Many Awards?
- 4 scholarships available.
What is the Benefit of the Scholarship?
- 300,000 Yen financial support (first year of study).
