Delayed gratification is the ability to resist the temptation for an immediate reward and wait for a bigger reward that comes later. In a world of fast-food, speed-life, quick promotions and instant noodles, the ability to delay gratification is one of the most important traits of successful entrepreneurs.

Building a successful business is not for the faint hearted. It takes discipline and other distinct qualities to become a successful entrepreneur. Interestingly, as a student, school provides you with a lot of opportunities to put your entrepreneurial prowess to action. It’s a good time to try, fail, learn and development requisite qualities to thrive in the outside world. 1. They are misfits

Students who turn out to become success entrepreneurs possess diverse personality traits. But one thing they have in common among others is that they are curious and unconventional. They are often not comfortable with following the rules. They question everything. Other student may consider them awkward and weird, but within that unconventional personality lays the seed of greatness. If you are considered a misfit, don’t fret. You are in good company.

2. They start Business in school

Yahoo, Facebook, Google, WordPress, Dropbox were all started by students in school. Of course, we know not all businesses started on campus become successful. But it’s often an indication that the starters have potential for success if they learn from their mistake and move on to something else. The first business I started in school was selling Scientific Calculator. The business failed on arrival but it was a learning experience that gave rise to other ventures in and out of school. If you are aspiring to become an entrepreneur, while you are still in school, you may want to consider starting something on the side.
