Jubilee Oil Essay Competition for Ghanaian Students- Win Laptops, Educational Grants and Scholarships

The Jubilee First Oil National Essay Competition is offered by Jubilee partners-Kosmos Energy, Anadarko, EO Group, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Tullow Oil and SABRE to secondary and university students in Ghana. This is a unique opportunity for the voice of the youth to be heard on Ghana’s oil revenue management.

The essay competition is aimed to create awareness for the Ghanaian youth on oil exploration in the country and is part of a series of activities heralding the drilling of oil in commercial quantities in Ghana in the month of December.

Three winners will be selected from the two categories and will be presented with packages including a laptop, educational grants and scholarships, cash prizes and jubilee souvenirs.

Essay Category
The essay competition is in two categories;
* a junior category opened to students of the Junior and Senior High Schools
* and a senior category opened to students of tertiary institutions- Universities and colleges.

Essay Topic
The essay topic for Junior category is “To what use should Ghana put its oil wealth” whilst the topic for the senior category is Ghana’s oil is for development; outline some developmental benefits of Ghana’s oil find.

Only Ghanaian Students residing in the country are eligible to contest.

Contest Entry Deadline
Entries should be sent from Friday 12 November, 2010 to November 30 close date.

Essay Submission Guideline
The essays must not be more than 500 words for the junior category and 750 words for the senior category.
