2023 International Development Scholarships for African Students

Mo Ibrahim Foundation Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity for African students at the University of Birmingham, covering a one-year MSc program and a year-long integrated internship. Recipients will undertake a six-month research internship at the university followed by six months with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation in London. It is a two-year programme combining academic study with a one-year integrated internship. The internship includes six months of research at the International Development Department (IDD) and six months at the Mo Ibrahim Foundation in London, working on governance and leadership initiatives. Which Fields are Eligible? MSc in Development Policy and Politics Relevant undergraduate backgrounds include: Social Policy, Sociology, Politics, International Relations, Development Studies, Public Administration, Anthropology, Education, Urban/Rural Development, Environmental Studies, Psychology, Diplomacy, Human Geography, Cultural Studies, etc. Type: Master’s Scholarship | Fully Funded | UK Who can Apply? Applicants must: Hold a First Class Honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. Be under 30 years old at the time of applying. Be African nationals domiciled (or permanent residents) in Africa (preference for Sub-Saharan Africa). Demonstrate strong English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 580/93). Provide two recommendation letters (including one from current employer). How are Candidates Selected? Based on academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to Africa’s development.
