The Hague University of applied science has its location set in the Netherland’s also makes provision for campuses which are located in the west Netherlands’s amongst the metropolitan region, the university focuses majorly on Bachelor’s degree as its core program, while also being home to 14 other academies within its walls.

Courses

The Hague University or otherwise abbreviated THUAS offers over 40 full-time undergraduate degrees, part-time degrees and nine master’s degrees of which three are taught in English. Degrees taught in the university fall into six main fields namely Arts and Humanities, Business and Social Sciences, Language and Cultural Studies, Medicine and Health, Engineering and Science and Technology, other degrees offered include Law and Security, ICT and Media and Innovation and Society to name a few.

Hague University Scholarships

Scholarships offered at The Hague university are of various forms, there are scholarships for non-EU/EEA students with EU/EEA short forms for European Union and European Economic area respectively, there are also scholarships for postgraduate studies and masters programs. Examples of some of these scholarships are;

• Holland scholarship; this is a 5,000-euro scholarship which is only offered to students from outside the EU/EEA countries, who are looking to attain a bachelor’s degree. The scholarship is financed by the Dutch ministry of education, culture and science. This scholarship is only available on a full-time basis and for students who have never studied at any educational institution in the Netherlands. Application for this scholarship is through the writing of an essay, which is then reviewed by a committee of judges selecting the best essays on the following criteria: content, language, authenticity and objective.
• World citizen talent scholarship; this scholarship is worth 2,500-euros and is awarded to the top 10 Holland scholarship students for the remainder of their bachelor study program, the caveat being they would have to meet the university’s yearly study progress. Students would also have to attain a high-grade point and also complete the university’s foundation stage during year one, earning at least 55 credits consecutively in the second and third years in order to enable them to get the scholarship in the third and fourth years. Application is open to prospective masters’ students, non-indigenes of Netherlands and students applying for the first time only.

Eligibility for Admission

A Considerable number of courses in The Hague university are taught in English, albeit Dutch being the more recognizable language, with the variant best suited for a student depending on their preference and previous education. Proficiency in both English and Dutch is essential, English language requirements for courses taught at the university include:

Application is made by submission of enrolment request through STUDIELINK, after which THUAS would send an email containing a link for registration, after registration an exam is then conducted to measure applicants’ intellectual capacities. Exams are conducted in the choice of language the applicant wants, results are then sent via email the following day after which enrollment commences.

Cost of living

THUAS works in cooperation with agencies that offer accommodation to students, with a quota of over 600 rooms and a housing fee of 250 euros. In contrast, housing outside the university costs around 300-600 euros. Housing constitutes the highest monthly expenses. Tuition is pegged around 2,000-8,000 euros per year. Payments are made depending on nationalities, higher education diploma and the degree program chosen.

Immigrants are also required to apply for a Dutch residence permit, with a minimum of 11,000 euros required for upkeep, for that academic year. Proof of sufficient financial means is also required before the start of each academic year.
