Hi Femi,
It’s always better to make each Reference/recommendation letter for a specific application. You’ll have to get one unique letter for each submission for better chances from consideration.

Hi Afterschoolafrica, i find your website very valuable for thoese actively interested in studying outside the country on scholarships. I have a question to ask and it is concerning reference letters. As a scholarship seeker, one may need to apply for as much as 10, 15 scholarship opportunities. But a problem arises when one may need to submit reference letters addressed to each school for each application. Can an appplicant make use of reference letters addressed with a “To whom it may concern”. Someone once told me that letters addressed in such manner normally reduces one’s chances of being awarded a scholarship. What can one do? Need ur opinion.

Hi afterschoolafrica. I find ur site very valuable for people interested in studying abroad on scholarships. I have a question i really need ur advice on. It’s concerning reference letters. As a scholarship seeker, one may want to apply for as much as 10 or 15 scholarship opportunities during an admission window but realised collecting reference letters for each and everyone of them may not be so easy. I would have suggested addressing referece letters as “To whom it may concern” but someone told me it reduces your chances of being awarded a scholarship. What do u suggest someone can do?

It’s good to hear you were selected for the ABC Transport scholarship aptitude test. I’m not sure of the nature of the test. You can contact the employer to know if they will be willing to disclose the such information.
