Lancaster University, UK has just expanded its highly successful Distance Learning MA in Creative Writing, allowing the admission of a new cohort of 20 new students for the academic year 2009-10. The deadline for 2010 applications has ended in April, but is announced to continue as an annual international scholarship program.
The University is delighted to announce that, every year from 2009-10 on, two International Scholarships (worth £8,000 over two years) will be offered to applicants who need assistance in financing their studies and who are resident outside the EU. Selection will be on the basis of the quality of the portfolios submitted. A covering letter of application (maximum two sides of A4 paper) demonstrating how the award will help you, will be required for the application. This letter should be clearly headed ‘International Scholarship Application’. It is important that you read the submission guidelines carefully when sending in your application and portfolio.
The 2009 International Scholarship awards went to Rosie Thapa (Nepal) and Joyce Chigiya (Zimbabwe).
Since its inception in 1999, the Distance Learning MA has rapidly evolved into an international program, linking students in the UK and overseas through virtual online learning. The program is transmitted almost entirely by online tutorials and conferences, with a live Summer School at its mid-point.
