About ScholarshipIslamic Development BAnk Scholarship

The objective of the M.Sc. is to assist Eligible Member Countries in the development of their human resources in science and technology that are both relevant and necessary for their socio-economic development. The Programme is open only to students from the 20 Eligible Member Countries. The list is at the end of this section.

The concept of the scholarship programme is to increase the number of intermediate level manpower in the Eligible Member Countries (i.e. the M.Sc. graduates) and to enable them to participate in the IDB Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology (MSP).

Scholarship Type: Masters Scholarship

Who is qualified to apply?

The Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a citizen of any of an Eligible Member Country.
  • Age not over 30 years.
  • Be a graduate in science/technology with a grade above Good in his/her academic career.
  • Be nominated by an academic research institution of his/her country.
  • Be determined to return home at the end of his/her studies.
  • Not in receipt of another scholarship.
  • Be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

Applicants for Statistics, Demography and related disciplines such as Applied Statistics, Demography and Econometrics must meet the following requirements in addition to the above:

  • Be in possession of a B.Sc. degree or its equivalent in statistics or related disciplines.
  • Must have a working experience of at least one year as statistician permanently employed by an institution in a member country.
  • Be determined to return home at the end of his/her studies.

Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Djibouti, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Togo, Uganda

Other Countries

Afghanistan, Comoros, Maldives, Palestine, Yemen

To be taken at: Selected candidates are to pursue their study at reputable institutions of study in member countries only.

Application Deadline

The Programme is announced every year through the IDB Governors’ Offices in the countries concerned. The timetable is as follows:
September     -           Announcement of the Programme
December 31 –          Deadline for submission of applications to the Office of   H.E.  the IDB Governor for your country

How can I Apply?

Application form can be downloaded (visit link below).  The applications must be submitted to the Office of the IDB Governor for the country.  It is the Office of the IDB Governor that will forward the applications to the IDB and not the individual applicants or the nominating institutions.  Applications sent directly to the IDB will not be considered.
