The deadlines for the following scholarships for African and developing countries are fast approaching. Below is a list of scholarships with application deadline in September 2020. Schwarzman Scholars Fully-funded Masters Scholarship for International Students – China Application Deadline: 22nd September The $450 million Schwarzman Scholars programme will support up to 200 scholars annually from the U.S., China and around the world for a one-year Master’s Degree programme at Tsinghua University in Beijing. African Union University (Pan African University) Masters & PhD Scholarships for African Students Application Deadline: 10th September Young, qualified, talented and enterprising applicants from African countries and the African Diaspora are invited to apply for scholarships to join Masters or PhD degree programmes at any of the following four PAU institutes listed below. OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Young Professional Development Program Application Deadline: 21st September The OPEC Young Professional Development Program (YPDP) is a structured 2-year program that has been designed to attract and develop young professionals from OFID’s Member Countries, and aims at equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the minimum requirements for OFID’s entry level professional positions. IDRC Research Awards for Canada & Developing Countries Application Deadline: 16th September Applications for the IDRC Research Awards for Canada & Developing Countries, are now open. Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA Research Grants for Sub-Saharan African (Including Sudan) Researchers Application Deadline: 6th September The Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA Research Fund supports pairs of researchers (post-doctoral level and above) from the University of Cambridge (or an affiliated institution such as the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and NIAB) and sub-Saharan African institutions, across all disciplines, to initiate and/or strengthen research collaborations. Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation in Sub-Saharan Africa  Application Deadline: 14th September The Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation is open for ambitious and talented sub-Saharan African engineers from all engineering fields to demonstrate innovative and engineering entrepreneurship skills AREF Research Development Fellowship for Sub-Sahara African Researchers Application Deadline: 23rd September The AREF Research Development Fellowship (RDF) Programme is being launched to support African researchers who are working on important challenges for human health in Africa. 95 Rhodes Trust Scholarships for African/International Students to Study at University of Oxford Application Deadline for West Africa only: 30th September The Rhodes Trust offers Postgraduate Scholarship Programme for international students from select countries including Africans, to study at University of Oxford (See country list in link). University of Waikato Doctoral Scholarship – New Zealand Application Deadline: 30th September To support excellence in postgraduate research, up to 75 University of Waikato Doctoral Scholarships will be awarded each year to high-achieving candidates applying for admission to an approved doctoral qualification at the University of Waikato. UK Medical Research Council/DFID African Research Leader Scheme  Application Deadline: 8th September The UK Medical Research Council and the UK Department for International Development announce a further call for proposals for the prestigious African Research Leader awards. University of Ghana UG-Tullow Scholarship Scheme for Undergraduate and Graduate Students Application Deadline: 30th September The University of Ghana Students Financial Aid Office (UG-SFAO) is accepting applications for both undergraduate and graduate students in relevant academic fields who are exceptionally brilliant but with dire financial needs. Humber College Scholarships for International Students Application Deadline: 27th September Humber College Canada is offering full and partial renewable tuition scholarships for NEW international undergraduate students. Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) Masters Scholarships for African Students at University of Oxford Application Deadline: 14th September (Opening soon) The Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) Scholarships Programme is targeted at graduates between the ages of 25 and 35, some of whom may have work experience. The scholars will be exceptionally intelligent graduates who have excelled academically as well as in other areas of their lives. University of Essex Africa Scholarship Programme for Masters Studies Application Deadline: 18th September If you’re an international student from an African nation and are self-funding your postgraduate studies, you could be eligible for a scholarship of £4,000, paid as a discount on your tuition fee. Margaret McNamara Educational Grants (MMEG) for African Women – South Africa Application Deadline: 14th September Margaret McNamara Education grants are awarded to women from developing and middle-income countries who, upon obtainment of their degree, intend to return to or remain in their countries, or other developing countries, and work to improve the lives of women and/or children.
