AAUW Scholarships and Grants for Women – Postgraduate Fellowship in USA 2012/2013

American Association of University Women (AAUW)Educational Foundation Fellowships and Grants is available for women who are not US citizens or Permanent resident in the United States for 2012-2013 academic year. Priority is given to students from developing countries including African Students.

AAUW has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the World. One of the world’s largest sources of funding for graduate women, AAUW is providing more than $3million in funding for more than 200 fellowships and grants to outstanding women and nonprofit organizations in the 2009-10 academic year.

Due to the longstanding, generous contributions of AAUW members, a broader community of women continues to gain access to educational and economic opportunities – breaking through barriers so that all women have a fair chance.

Fellowship and grant recipients perform research in a wide range of disciplines and work to improve their schools and communities. Their intellect, dedication, imagination, and effort promise to forge new paths in scholarship, improve the quality of life for all, and tackle the educational and social barriers facing women in the United States and around the globe.

International Fellowships

Master’s/Professional Fellowship: $18,000
Doctorate Fellowship: $20,000
Postdoctoral Fellowship: $30,000
Applications available: Aug. 1-Dec. 1, 2012
Application deadline: Dec. 1, 2012
Fellowship year: July 1, 2013-June 30, 2014
International Fellowships are awarded for full-time study or research in the United States to women who are not United States citizens or permanent residents. Both graduate and postgraduate study at accredited institutions are supported. Several fellowships are available for study outside of the U.S.

Career Development Grant applications
2011-2012 Academic Year
Award: $2,000 – $12,000
Applications available*: Aug. 1-Dec. 15, 2012
Application deadline: December 15, 2012
Grant year: July 1, 2013-June 30, 2014
Career Development Grants support women who hold a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to advance or change careers or re-enter the work force. Special consideration is given to women of color, and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields.

Selected Professions Fellowships provide opportunities for women to pursue graduate and first-professional degrees in designated fields where women traditionally have been underrepresented and where the employment outlook and earnings potential are strong.

Community Action Grant applications

Award: $2,000-$10,000
Applications available: Aug. 1, 2012 – Jan. 15, 2013
Application deadline: Jan. 15, 2013
Community Action Grants provide seed money to women, AAUW branches, AAUW state organizations, and local community-based nonprofit organizations for innovative programs or nondegree research projects that promote education and equity for women and girls.
