Tell Me About The Fellowship
The Faculty for the Future Fellowships, funded by the Schlumberger Foundation, support women from low‑ and middle‑income countries who are underrepresented in STEM. The programme enables them to pursue PhD or post‑doctoral research abroad at recognized universities or research institutes. Fellows are expected to return home after their studies to contribute to socio‑economic development through academia, research, entrepreneurship, or public policy.
Which Fields are Eligible
- STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
- Master’s level study is not funded.
- Priority given to fields where women are most underrepresented: Physical Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics.

Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
- Be female citizens of eligible low‑ or middle‑income countries.
- Not hold dual citizenship with a developed country.
- Be enrolled, admitted, or have applied to a host university/research institute abroad.
- Hold an excellent academic record.
- Be committed to returning home after studies to contribute to development.
- Have teaching experience in their home country and a plan to return to academia, STEM entrepreneurship, or public policy.
- Demonstrate leadership skills, community outreach, and a track record of encouraging young people (especially girls) into STEM.

- Four selection rounds, focusing on:
- Academic performance.
- Quality of references.

- Commitment to return home.
- Relevance of research to home country.
- Leadership and outreach impact.

- Over 80 low‑ and middle‑income countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Morocco, Nepal, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and many more.

- Host universities or research institutes abroad recognized for strong research in STEM.
