Brief description: International Institute of Social Studies is inviting applications for 5 Ph.D. Fellowships in Development Studies. International students (except European Economic Area) can apply for these fellowships.
Eligible Field of Study: Four PhD fellowships are available for research related to the following cross-cutting themes in the ISS research programme Global Development and Social Justice: Global Development and Social Justice; Migration; Environment and climate change; Social protection and inequality; and Conflict.
One PhD fellowship is available for research on topics related to the Centre for Frugal Innovation in Africa.
About the Award: The International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), part of Erasmus University Rotterdam and located in The Hague (The Netherlands), is recruiting outstanding students for 5 PhD fellowships in Development Studies within the ISS research programme Global Development and Social Justice. The Fellowship aims to assist high achieving and highly motivated international students who have been offered a full-time place at an International Institute of Social Studies.
Type: Ph.D. Degree
- The Ph.D. Fellowships are available only to citizens of countries that are not part of the European Economic Area.
- Candidates must possess an MA Degree in one of the Social Sciences or equivalent, comprising at least four years of study at an internationally recognised university or Institute for Higher Education, as evidenced by certified copies of degrees and diplomas, and by copies of academic transcripts.

Value of Scholarship: Students will receive a fellowship of €1,630 per month, plus an additional allowance to cover the costs of their field work, which normally takes place during the second year into the Ph.D. programme.
